VOR/DME to be installed in Chandragadi Airport
January 26, 2017- Kathamandu
Chandragadi airport is being developed thoroughly. The airport which had aircraft fuel depot installed recently will now have VOR/DME installed in its vicinity.
The instruments will be installed within January 2018. Some Japanese engineers came to the airport to check for the feasibility of installation.
VOR/DME refers to mutual radio navigation station for airplane, which entails two radio beacons, located together, a VHF omnidirectional range (VOR) and distance measuring equipment (DME). VOR yields an angle between the station and the receiver in the aircraft, while DME does alike for range.
Likewise, Simrik Air and Buddha Air has been conducting test flights from Chandragadi to Taplejung and surveying about viability of the flights.
