Update: Pokhara International Airport to acquire more land

The land required for the Pokhara Intenational Airport has been acquired.

The 521 ropanis of land required to construct has already been bought by Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).

Likewise, the additional 50 ropanis of land which could be required in any case will also be acquired by CAAN and it has the required budget to buy the land. The mandatory procedure to buy the land has been going on.

Likewise, the official confirmation for the distribution of the budget from EXIM bank of China is yet to come after which the stuck budget which is crucial for the start of the construction work will be available for the required use. Finance Ministry has already confirmed the soft loan deal which is about $215.96 million.

The Pokhara Airport would be situated in Chinnedanda-3 km to the east of Pokhara’s present domestic airport and will be constructed by China CAMC Engineering Company which acquired the contract for the construction in May, 2014 and will affirm the design of the airport in May 2017. The civil works will begin from July next year.
