Update on the new generation radar system installed in Bhatte Danda

December 28, 2016-KATHMANDU

The next generation Radar system installed in Bhatte Danda has been facing obstruction for its operation.

The system which should have been in operation is still stuck due to unavailability of required aircraft of flight level 410.

CAAN had given global tender to acquire the required aircraft. Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) and companies from New Zealand, Uniked Kingdom and South Korea had presented their interest between which FAA proposed the minimum charge for the aircraft service which is one crore and five lakhs.

Now, only the conformation is left after which FAA will be providing the service.

Likewise, CAAN has also confirmed that the minimum safe altitude system installed in Bhatte Danda will be requiring calibration which is the most crucial topic for the operation of the Radar system and FAA is ready to provide that service too.

After both the requirements are fulfilled, the Mode S Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar (MSSR) system will be operated.

Right now, CAAN has been observing the system for about eight hours on a daily basis.
