Unsecure resource allowance: Nijgadh International Airport felt left out.
This year budget announcement is numb towards the development of the much-debated Nijgadh International Airport. The government has shifted gear to prioritize the upgradation of current international airport and re-settle tourism industry. The government sets to invest in the upgradation of Tribhuvan International Airport, Bhairahawa, Pokhara, and small domestic airports in rural hill districts.
This year budget is mainly focused towards reconstructing world heritage sites, settlements and places of cultural significance. Talking to Kantipur press, Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat said, “The government will fully devote and promote itself to resettle Nepal as an attractive destination in the global tourism map.” Tourism Ministry officials were too in shock that the much-needed airport was not in the nation’s priority list. Due to insufficient tourism infrastructure, predominantly the airports, our country has been facing various difficulties including severe market competition.
