Turkish Gastronomy Tourism Association and Chefs Association of Nepal sign bilateral agreement

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Chefs Association of Nepal and Turkish Gastronomy Tourism Association (GTD). Turkish Airlines is the Official Partner Airlines for the collaboration. The purpose of this collaboration is to exchange the food culture between Nepal and the Republic of Turkey respectively.

The MoU was signed on the presence of Mr. Abdullah Tuncer Kececi, Country Manager of Turkish Airlines at Le trio Restaurant, Durbar Marg. With this joint collaboration both the counter parties will contribute together in their business plans to give life  to local to global, global to local collaboration in the field of Culinary Tourism. Both parties will do activities for empowering and increasing the recognition of their cultural heritage and modern kitchen culture of both the countries, according to a statement issued by the Turkish carrier.

Mr. Abdullah said that the core aim of the collaboration was to share the food culture between two countries and Turkish Airlines will be supporting both the parties for further approaches. “We already have some Indian restaurants in Turkey so, why not we promote the food culture of Nepal in Turkey?”, says Mr. Abdullah.

Established in 1933, Turkish airlines currently operate with 339 fleets to 302 different destinations and have achieved different awards in different class of services.

Chefs association of Nepal was established in the year 1996 as the umbrella organization of Nepalese culinary Professionals across the country as a platform of sharing and building on the knowledge and skills of these professionals for the overall growth, diversification and sustainability of the industry. The association comprises of 1076 members who conform to diverse disciplines of tourism, hospitality and culinary. Nearly 500 members are now professionally engaged in different countries. Its executive committee has altogether 17 members, who are elected vide the Annual General Assembly which takes place every alternate year.

Keeping in mind the culinary tourism or Food tourism exploration as the purpose of Tourism, the Turkish Gastronomy Tourism Association (GTD) was established 2 years ago with the pursuit of unique and memorable eating and drinking experiences. The association is being led by the President, Mr. Gurkan Boztepe and currently has the following members which includes Travel Agencies specialized on Culinary Tourism, Restaurants, Tour Operators with accumulated experience on food Tourism, Social Media masters and Bloggers on Food Tourism, Magazines and Digital Media on Gastronomy, Organic Food Producers, etc.
