Turkish Airlines brings 6th Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup to Kathmandu, Nepal

Turkish Airlines, a global leader in civil aviation that flies to more destinations, brings the sixth edition of its widely-heralded amateur Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup to Kathmandu to be held on 12th May 2018 at Gokarna Forest Resort. More than 8,000 players will tee it up in more than  100 tournaments across the globe with the victors securing places in the Grand Finals in Antalya.

The national flag carrier of Turkey in the press conference organized today at Hotel Radisson, Kathmandu provided the details about the golf tournament to be held on Kathmandu. The event today was executed by Mr. Deepak Acharya (Senior Golf Director for Gokarna Forest Resort), Bhairaja Panday (Executive Committee member for Gokarna Golf Club) and Mr. Abdullah TUNCER KECECI (General Manager of Turkish Airlines for Nepal) under the presence of media personnel.

Mr. Abdullah said that Nepal is a beautiful country with lots of potential in tourism industry. He added that Nepal is more than a mountainous country and Turkish Airlines has been supporting in every aspects to promote the tourism of Nepal. The airlines wants to let Nepal known as a golf country too.

He also said, “Turkish Airlines is committed to supporting and working with sport organizations bringing people together from all over the world. The Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup is something we are very proud of and it continues to grow and improve year on year. We are excited about our latest event in Kathmandu and proud of the impact it h-as on the local amateur golf scene.”

Mr. Acharya and Mr. Panday extended their warm gratitude towards Mr. Abdullah and praised for his contribution and suggestion in promoting Nepal. They said that the true tourism ambassador of Nepal is Mr. Abdullah.

Turkish Airline’s influence in sport stretches to a commitment to soccer at all levels, European professional rugby and the Turkish Airlines Euroleague, among many other intiatives.

The airline established the World Golf Cup in 2013 as part of a groundbreaking golf programme that includes the Turkish Airlines Open European Tour Tournament, the Turkish Airlines Challenge Tour event and backing for ladies’ golf, while every Turkish Airlines passenger can take clubs for free.

The Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup is now one of the most sought-after events on golfing calendars around the world, with 2018 Ryder Cup Venue Golf National in Paris among the illustrious host courses.

The passenger number increased to 69 million by the end of 2017 from 62.8 million seen in 2016 so, Turkish is ranked first in terms of countries, with 121, and international destinations with 301.
