Turkish Airlines and Chandragiri Hills signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a period of one year. The bilateral agreement will allow Chandragiri Hills employees and customers get a discount chances from Turkish Airlines whereas Turkish Airlines employees and customers with Turkish Airlines boarding pass will achieve discount up to 15% on Chandragiri Hills cable ticket price.
The MoU signing event was held at the top of Chandragiri Hills under the presence of General Manager of Turkish Airlines for Nepal Mr. Abdullah Tuncer Kececi, officials from Turkish Airlines (Nepal), officials from Chandragiri Hills Ltd. and the media personnel.
As per the agreement, both the parties will contribute together in future business plans. The agreement will be beneficial for tourism industry of Nepal as Turkish Airlines , one of the leading European airlines will be promoting the charm of Chandragiri Hills.
Established in 1933 with a fleet of five aircraft, Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines is a 4-star airline today with a fleet of 333 (passenger and cargo) aircraft flying to 300 destinations worldwide with 251 international and 49 domestic. According to the 2017 Skytrax survey, Turkish Airlines, already having a six consecutive years of “Best Airline in Europe” award between 2011-2016, now chosen as the “Best Airline in Southern Europe” for the ninth consecutive times.
Having won the “Best Economy Class Onboard Catering” award in 2010, Turkish Airlines also awarded as the World’s “Best Business Class Onboard Catering” in 2013, 2014 and 2016, and 2017. Winning the “World’s Best Business Class Lounge”award in 2015 and 2017, the global carrier also picked up the World’s “Best Business Class Lounge Dining” award for the third consecutive years according to this year’s survey results.
Chandragiri Hills which lies on the South-West of Kathmandu Valley has become one of the spectacular destinations for the visitors. The mind-blowing view of whole Kathmandu Valley with the view of soaring peaks is why Chandragiri has become the best. The panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley & Himalayan ranges from Annapurna to Everest makes any one feel like seeing whole Nepal from this hill.
Chandragiri hills carry historical significance as well. It was from these hills that King Prithivi Narayan Shah caught the first glimpse of a much scenic and prosperous Kathmandu valley, which in fact instilled in the king’s mind an idea of annexing the valley into his kingdom. According to folklore, Prithivi Narayan Shah is believed to have amassed spiritual powers for unification process after undergoing rigorous ‘sadhana’ or meditation at these very hills. The Gorkhali King disguised himself while ascending the hills in order to avoid being recognized by the Malla Kings of Kathmandu Valley. Chandragiri Hills Limited is constructing a resort that will resemble the Gorkha Durbar.
The Chandragiri Hills Ltd. was commercially opened on 8th August 2016. The bottom station of Chandragiri Cable car is situated at the height of 1569 meters above sea level which provides lift transportation system via cable car to the height of 2551 meters above sea level.
