Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Declared NOTAM due to VVIP flights Movement

April 16, 2017-TIA

According to the Spokesperson for TIA, Mr. Prem Nath Thakur, the airport had stated Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) starting for 35 minutes from 10:30 AM to 11:05 AM due to the VVIP flight of Nepalese President Bidya Devi Bhandari, who is on the Scheduled for five day tour to India.

During the VVIP Movement no flights were to take-off or land during this time while the airport will be completely closed due to the security reason for VVIP flight.

Currently, TIA has bearing high air traffic due to the increasing number of tourists and also the bad weather. Lukla Airport, one of the extreme airports in the world, is receiving more than 60 flights a day from different domestic airlines due to the high flow of tourists and mountain climbers.

Mr.Thakur also noted that the international flights will not be affected and will be operated smoothly but the domestic flight operation will be halted. He also added that they have requested airlines to schedule night flights to those airports with night flight operation facility.
