The Government of Nepal, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Department of Tourism has urged the entire airline operator not to dispense tickets to unregistered travel and trekking companies.
Highly Placed Source stated that the department had taken action to investigate and penalize those companies which have been involved and issuing e-ticketing from various airlines without the registration of travel companies in Nepal. The department had entreated Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal to carry out the necessary investigation on this matter.
Legitimate travel companies made the complaint in the tourism department that unregistered companies have been providing e-ticketing services to tourists on unfair terms.
According to the Tourism Act, 2035 (1978) Chapter 3 (1) it has clearly mentioned that any person or company, who are interested to operate the Travel and Trekking Agency shall have to obtain a license pursuant to this Act and Sub-section (2) states that upon receiving an application pursuant to Government of Nepal upon conducting necessary inquiry, may issue license as prescribed to the applicant if finds capable to operate Travel or Trekking Agency upon charging the prescribed fees.
