TIA under progressive escalation; two way escalator added for Check In A

Tribhuvan International Airport adds a new escalator in its airport facility that connects the departing passengers entering the airline counters from Check in A to the immigration department. Previously also it had an escalator which is being used to connect the departing passengers from both Check in A and Check in B to the immigration sector of the Airport. The immigration department of TIA lies just on the first floor next to the waiting terminals and the Check In counters and Airline counters remains at the ground floor of the airport.
The new escalator connecting Check in A to the immigration was inaugurated yesterday in the participation of terminal duty officers, Nepal Airlines executives, police authorities, electrical department with all other department personnel involved in constructing it.
The newly built escalator provides a feature of ascending and descending feature for passengers going up and going down changing the floors. Previously built escalator used to move only upwards in a single direction. The addition of this escalator will facilitate all the travelers as well as help to prevent the spreading of bad image of the airport, claims the airport authority. They also informed that additional facilities would be constructed progressively in TIA to improve its standard.
In May, two new conveyor belts were implemented in TIA aiming to provide baggage to the waiting passengers within 45 minutes which took hours before the installation.
