TIA sees some progress; 200 chairs added to Sterile Hall

Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has added new chairs for the comfort of passengers at the departing section.

As per the source, the airport authorities had added a new chairs facility at the exit point of Sterile hall which can accommodate 200 passengers.

The initiation of the service enhancement was carried out under the command of recently appointed Tourism Minister Rabindra Adhikari after the complaints from the various sources was reached to him that daily the large numbers of traveling passengers have been gathered in the exit room following the holding of the aircraft. In addition, the facility at the exit room was not sufficient to cope with the huge number of passengers.

Spokesperson for TIA Mr. Prem Nath Thakur said that the large number of passengers have to stand and wait for boarding their flight after immigration check. After the addition of 200 chairs, passengers will get some relief, he added.

The Minister on Sunday had instructed to add at least 100 chairs within 20 days at the domestic departure hall.

Present Report of TIA shows that there are daily 400 flights moment at the airport. In 2 Minutes and 42 seconds, every single aircraft lands and takes off from the airport.  The Tourism Ministry had launched its 100-day action plan on Friday targeting the country’s tourism promotion and reforms in the aviation sector.

By publicizing 18 points, the Tourism Minister had vowed to improve the facility at the airport in a hundred days. Similarly, the study was also started to operate the airports for 21 hours to minimize the air traffic flow at the airport.
