Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), only international airport of the nation has halted its operation for few hours in the morning following adverse weather today. The weather has drastically changed and due to fog the visibility had been affected resulting poor restricted visibility and all the VFR and IFR operations remained suspended till 9 am in the morning.
Due to foggy morning and visibility problem, mainly domestic flights and mountain flights have been cancelled and delayed today.
The passengers have been stranded as the TIA officials announced to halt the operation.
According to the sources, Buddha Air have cancelled 4 flights. Likewise, Shree Airlines delayed its few flights whereas Tara Air and Yeti Airlines have completed boarding.
Every year during the winter TIA is greatly affected by the fog and haze formation in the Kathmandu valley that causes airport to be closed until mid day most of the times. This causes cancellation and delay of maximum number of flights resulting chaos among the passengers and the terminals are washed away with the aggressive passengers.
Due to the congested TIA terminals passengers have to experience a very bitter hospitality during those chaotic situations as complained by the passengers.
