Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), domestic terminal arrival area, almost every time used to be a chaotic place to be because of the unsystematic way of baggage claim prevalent till date. However now, the arrival area will get rid of the chaos as a conveyor belt has been built in the baggage claim area for the first time to ease in the collection of luggage by the arriving passengers.
The mess on the arrival area now can be expected to be less as the baggage claim will be in a systematic way. Previously there was no conveyer belt built for domestic terminal of TIA. The construction of the conveyor belt has finished and is ready to operate now. The baggage claim system is going to be systematic after this system starts operating. No other domestic airport in Nepal has this conveyor belt system of baggage claim.
The arrival of luggage can be observed in the information boards placed in the arrival area listed according to arriving airlines. The passengers from respective airline can come forward to pick up their baggage.
Previously only international arrival of TIA had 2 conveyor belts for baggage claim and passenger have to wait for about an hour and sometimes more than that to get their luggage in international terminal too. This is because of higher number of travelers and less number of belts. Additional conveyor belts need to be added to ease the baggage claim in international arrival too.
