The grounded Airbus A320-233 “Lumbini” to operate soon
March 14, 2017 Kathmandu
It has been more than a week since the National Flag Carrier NAC’s Airbus A320 “Lumbini” with registration number “9N-AKX” suffered a bird strike and remained grounded. The bird strike slightly damaged the slat of right wing and the slat needed to be replaced.
According to the source, the new slat has already arrived from Singapore. “The further inspection has already been carried out,” added the source, “The replacement procedure will undergo shortly.”
The maintenance work is being delayed due to the late arrival of new slat and lack of aircraft maintenance engineers.
The slat will be replaced under the supervision of foreign aircraft maintenance engineers. The aircraft will come into operation shortly after the completion and verification of slat replacement.
The aircraft’s slat was damaged by a bird strike during its flight to Kathmandu from New Delhi on 6th of March.
