Thai Airways in 51 years of service in Nepal

Flag carrier of Thailand, Thai Airways has successfully completed 50 years of service in Nepal and enters into 51 year. The company celebrated its successful operation in Nepal for last 50 years with cake cutting ceremony with the airlines team on Tuesday.

The airways made maiden flight to Kathmandu on 4th December, 1968.

The airways successfully completed 50 years and had conducted various program throughout last year that mostly included social activities. The airways also conducted educational tour to some of the children.

Thai airways has been a successful airline operating in Nepal and the airline has been carrying out corporate social responsibility activities like blood donation drives, annual cataract surgery camps, cardio check-up and health camps, and stationary distributions to orphanage schools.

In November, 1985 Thai became the first in Nepal to provide services of computerized reservations and included the provision of the service to various travel agents in 1990.

In the beginning, Thai Airways operated only one flight a week which soon increased due to high demand. In October 1997, the carrier started daily flights with A300-800 aircraft and introduced B777-200 from November 1998 to support Nepal’s tourism campaign of Visit Nepal Year 1998, the airline said. The B 777-200 aircraft is in operation presently as well.
