The country’s national flag carrier, Nepal Airlines Corporation, on Tuesday successfully conducted a test flight of its Chinese-made Y12e aircraft to Dang based Tarigaun airport, which has remained closed for long.
The test flight took off on Tuesday as per an agreement reached between Tulsipur sub-metropolis Mayor Ghanashyam Pandey and Nepal Airlines Corporation’s Chairperson Madan Kharel on Monday. The Corporation has repaired two of its grounded airplanes for the expansion of services.
Harbin Y-12e ‘9N-AKU’ test aircraft was under command of Capt. Noori Sherpa and Capt. Udhab Ghimire.
“Preparations are being made to operate air service twice a week”, said Ashok Sigdel, Spokesperson of the NAC.
Most probably the flight service will be operational on Monday and Friday in a week before the Dashain festival with the completion of test service, Sigdel added.
“The air service will come into effect within a week after completing all due processes”, he further informed.
The national carrier is committed to providing air service in every airport of Nepal to meet the goal of Tourism year 2020. The corporation has also accomplished test flight to Simikot, Dolpa, Talcha, Jomsom and Jumla Airport on last week of September. The Corporation’s Executive Chairman Madan Kharel says NAC will open regular flights to these destinations soon.
