Tara Air successfully conducted test flight at Resunga Airport, the airport linking Gulmi district to rest of Nepal. The Twin Otter DHC-6-400 aircraft with registration ‘9N-AKL’ commanded by Captain duo Prabhakar Ghimire and Santosh Shah successfully touched down at 3:55 pm local time.
The airport will operate scheduled flights after the completion of blacktopping project. A team led by Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Sanjeev Gautam inspected Resunga airport located at Gulmi on 14th May for necessary test flight preparations.
Around 120 million has been spent for the construction of airport which features runway with length 620m and 30m width.
The airport is situated at Simichaur and spans an area of 78 ropanis and 90 aanas. Out of 78 ropani 90 anna land of the airport, 56 ropani land belongs to the public property. 46 landowners in that area have been provided with compensation and also have been shifted to another location.
With the airport being operated, the people of neighboring areas including Gulmi, Arghaghanchi, Pyuthan, Baghlung, Palpa and Samangja will be benefited directly.
