Summit Air evacuating passengers form Lukla daily

The domestic carrier operating fleet of LET L410 aircraft has become the leading career to accomplish most of the rescue mission of people stranded at Lukla. The carrier has been doing regular flights to Lukla since Saturday. It conducted 1 flight on Saturday, 3 flights on Sunday and 2 flights today to Lukla as rescue flights of the stranded people after the country wide lockdown announcements. Summit Air will be conducting more rescue flights tomorrow too.
Tara Air, Summit Air and Nepal Airlines have already conducted multiple flights to Lukla for rescue. Summit Air has been conducting the flights till today and will continue it. Today a total of 29 Tourists and 50 guides and porters have been evacuated from Lukla by Nepal Airlines, Summit Air and Sita Air on behalf of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality, Nepal Tourism Board, District Administration Office.
It has been reported that a lot of foreigners are still stranded at Lukla Airport, the most extreme airport and gateway to Mount Everest. The outbreak of CoVid-19 and lockdown imposed all over country made tourists stranded at various part of country including Lukla. Numerous tourists have been rescued from Pokhara as well which is one of the most popular tourist destination and gateway to multiple adventurous trekking routes.
Embassies of different country in Nepal have approached Government of Nepal to rescue their respective nationals from various parts of the country. The Government has made provision of conducting special rescue flights in special permission during the lockdown. All other domestic as well as international flights remain suspended till April 15. Some international rescue flights also have been conducted in this difficult hour of people and the world.
