Nepal Airlines Airbus A330 9N-ALY carrying 184 passengers to Narita has returned to Kathmandu after detecting smoke in the cargo compartment.
Flight RA 433, which flew to Narita at 11 pm on Tuesday, returned to Kathmandu within half an hour. “The crew returned the aircraft to Kathmandu when the cockpit signaled that there was smoke in the cargo compartment,” said an official of the Corporation.
At night, passengers were kept at the Airport Hotel in Sinamangal and Kaveri Inn Hotel.
An employee of the Corporation’s airport officials said that the technicians are preparing to repair the aircraft and fly those passengers to Narita on the same plane at nine o’clock on Wednesday morning.
