Simrik Airlines set to fly International in Boeing 777 aircraft

Simrik Airlines, a domestic airliner of Nepal makes an agreement to operate in collaboration with an American airliner Sapphire Global Airways to operate the international flights from Nepal. Managing Director for Simrik Airlines Mr. Rameshwor Thapa and director for Sapphire Global Airways Mr. Rahul S. Puranik signed on the agreement papers today.

The agreement states the new airline to be operated in joint investment of Simrik International Cargo Airlines and Sapphire Global Airlines. The agreement also stated the new airline will operate the cargo flights including passenger operations with an ambitious plan of adding two wide body jet aircraft of Boeing 777 series within a year from agreement date.

The Sapphire Global Airlines was interested in collaborated operation with Simrik Airlines analyzing the good scope of cargo operation in Nepal. The airline thus signed the proposal to bring 150 Million Dollars investment for Nepal according to the Director of Sapphire Global Airways. Altogether NRS. 16 Billion will be invested for the initiation of new airline among which 70 percent of the share will be invested by Sapphire Global Airlines and rest 30 percent by Simrik Airlines.

The airline will be operated making Kathmandu its hub and has also planned to operate from Pokhra, Bhairhawa, Nijgadh International Airport in near future. Director Thapa informed that the permission to be obtained in order to establish international flights will be eased after the two parties’ agreement accomplishment. The cargo operation will be based on chartering and not scheduled he added.

Sapphire Global Airlines is a subsidiary company of Swani Group of Companies in United States of America that has been investing successfully for real estate, construction, hospitality and beverages since establishment in 1998. Simrik Airlines for regular scheduled domestic flights, Simrik Air for Chatered helicopter operations, tourist hotels and resorts are some of the important investments of Simrik Airlines. Simrik Airlines also owns the national newspaper daily ‘Annapurna Post’ and is preparing for broadcast of a national television channel very soon.
