Simara Airport initiates night flight operation from September 15

Buddha Air has initiated night flight operation from Simara Airport from September 15, 2018.

Hirajan Kafle, an official of Simara Airport stated that Buddha Air conducted 2 night flights yesterday. “Night flights will be conducted regularly,” he added. 4 years ago, a Successful test flight for night operation was conducted at Simara Airport.

Simara is the country’s largest industrial and commercial area where the Civil Aviation Authority has spent millions on installing equipment for night flight operations.
Major domestic airline companies have started conducting two dozen night flights daily from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) with aim of reducing congestion at the country’s only international airport.

After the proposal of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), private airlines like Buddha Air, Yeti Airlines, and Shree airlines have already commenced night flights to various destinations around the country. These airlines have received permission to conduct 25 flights daily from 6 pm to 9 pm from Kathmandu to various destinations namely Biratnagar, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, and Dhangadhi. Simara Airport has now been added to the list.

Likewise, Chandragadhi and Janakpur Airport are expected to feature night flight operation from the beginning of the year 2019. Necessary preparations are underway for introducing night flight operation at both the airports. The certification to conduct night flight at the Chandragadhi Airport has already been awarded along with the necessary procedural designs.
