Simara Airport expected to initiate night flights from Sept. 16

Simara Airport is expected to initiate night operation from September 16, 2018. Successful test flight for night operation was conducted 4 years ago at this airport located at Bara.

The night flights are scheduled to be conducted from mid-September as airline companies after applying for the flights have received necessary permission.

Simara is the country’s largest industrial and commercial area where the Civil Aviation Authority has spent millions on installing equipment for night flight operations.

Despite the successful development of airport infrastructures for night flight operations, the proposed night flight operation did not commence till now.

Simara Airport Manager stated that the private airline companies took permission from authority for operating 3 daily flights during night time.

Major domestic airline companies have started conducting two dozen night flights daily from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) with aim of reducing congestion at the country’s only international airport.

After the proposal of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), private airlines like Buddha Air, Yeti Airlines, and Shree airlines have commenced night flights. These airlines have received permission to conduct 25 flights daily from 6 pm to 9 pm from Kathmandu to various destinations namely Biratnagar, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, and Dhangadhi. Simara Airport will also be on the list soon.

Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has planned to facilitate Bhadrapur airport and Janakpur airport for conducting night flights within 5-7 months.
