Not a new incident for the airplanes flying in Nepali sky, this afternoon at 12:50 PM Saurya Airlines Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft with registration ‘9N-ALE’ encountered a major bird strike during takeoff at Bhadrapur Airport resulting the aircraft to be grounded.
The aircraft was rolling on the runway to complete the scheduled flight from Bhadrapur to Kathmandu.
According to the officials, it had a flock of bird sucked in the right engine of the empennage section of aircraft during taking off. A Engineering team has already reached the site by Buddha Air flight.
The wounded aircraft has been grounded at the airport for additional inspections by the Engineers. No injuries has been reported with all passengers and crew safe. After the incident, Saurya Airlines also notified the inconvenience caused by delayes to valued passengers.
Frequent incident of bird strike shows weakness of airport authorities towards controlling of birds inside the airport premises and shows the immediate need for the control methods soon.
