As per the persisting rules and regulation of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the runway of an airport can’t be used for conducting any programs however, the Juphal Airport’s runway has been used for the district level sports competition on request of District authorities and schools.
The sports program was conducted safely under the direction and supervision of CAAN and the local security authorities.
Due to unavailability of adequate sports field, the runway of the airport has been used for running competition. Adarsha School who is the organizer of the competition used the runway of Juphal Airport for 100, 200 and 400 meters relay race.
Juphal airport has 560 meters long runway where the parking bay is of only 60 meters long and 40 meters wide. Flight operation at the airport normally happens at the morning time. The airport remained out of operation from 15 June to 7 Sept. 2017 especially for the blacktopping project.
The airport is the only medium of transportation for the locals in Dunai, Dolpa.
