A team led by Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Sanjeev Gautam inspected Reshunga airport located at Gulmi on Monday, which is currently under the construction phase.
CAAN conducted a field survey in the airport. The authority will dispatch technical team along with the pilots by Friday and after the inspection, further process will be carried out as per the report analysis.
Durba Das Bhauchibhaiya, Director of Civil Engineering, Om Sharma, Project manager of Bhairahawa airport along with Dinesh Pariyar, Side sub engineering were in the inspection team.
According to Pariyar, the work has been carried out in-order to operate the airport as soon as possible. Welcoming the team, Chief of Reshunga Municipality, Dili Raj Bhuswal has urged to conduct the test flight in Jestha.
Speaking on the lack of passengers, Padam Aryal, Director of Reshunga municipality VDC no. 1 stated that the ticket booking instruction will be implemented before the flights.
According to the committee, around 120 million has been spent for the construction of airport which features runway with length 620m and 30m width.
The airport is situated at Simichaur and spans an area of 78 ropanis and 90 aanas. Out of 78 ropani 90 anna land of the airport, 56 ropani land belongs to the public property. 46 landowners in that area have been provided with compensation and also have been shifted to another location.
With the airport being operated, the people of neighboring areas including Gulmi, Arghaghanchi, Pyuthan, Baghlung, Palpa and Samangja will be benefited directly.
