KVTDC plans to remove 8 storey building near TIA within 3 months
Major Airlines has been conducting flight operations by cutting weight of the wide-body/narrow-body passenger aircraft, which indicates all international flights either carry less fares or cut cargo. Therefore, most of the aircrafts are not being utilized to their full potential, airlines often are suffering huge losses.
Reckoning the eight-storey building near Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), a major threat to aviation safety, the Development Committee of the parliament on Monday instructed Kathmandu Valley Town Development Committee (KVTDC) and Kathmandu Valley Development Authority (KVDA) to resolve this issue within 3 months and present a full report of the work to the committee.
The Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers (OPMCM) has also written to Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office (KMC) instructing them to investigate an eight-storey building near the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
According to the Shanta Raj Subedi, secretary at OPMCM, “KMC officials are notified to investigate the prevailing issue and to take necessary action if the constructed building is against the building codes.”
