Public Accounts Committee seeks NAC’s A330 procurement documents

After the discussion on the subject of irregularities in the process of buying two Widebody aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the parliament will be investigating the procurement process.

The committee has directed the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA ) to provide all the documents related to it by today. News in different media about irregularities in purchasing the two A330s compelled the committee to send a letter to MoCTCA.

The committee sent the letter to MoCTCA on Monday providing three days to submit all documents in the secretariat of the committee till 5 pm. The arrival of first Airbus A330 named “Annapurna” was on the month of June whereas the second A330 named “Makalu” landed on July 2018.

Rajnath Pudel, Secretary of Committee stated that after many issues raised about aircraft purchase, MTOW and engine warranty, the committee has decided to investigate and will call representatives of relevant bodies for answers of all doubt after completing the investigation and detailed study.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has already created the investigation committee after the news about using the agents to purchase the 2 new wide-body aircraft by NAC created controversy. The auditor general has also raised a question on the controversy.
