Prabhu Helicopter Pvt Ltd brought its third brand new Turbine Robinson R66 helicopter, designed and built by Robinson Helicopter Company in CA, USA for commercial operations in the country, a statement issued by the company today said.
According to the Officials from Prabhu Helicopter, the company’s third chopper reached its base at Pokhara Airport on Friday October 6, this year. The chopper was dispatched couple of Month ago from USA.
The assembling work of the newly bought chopper will be carried out at Prabhu’s Hangar in Pokhara Airport, noted officials, adding that the company will conduct its test flight after the accomplishing the assembling work of the chopper. As the paperwork of getting registration number has also initiated so it can be expected that there won’t be any delay in commencing the very first flight of this debuting company in Nepali aviation industry.
The company is planning to initiate its operation from Kathmandu to the near and popular destinations for tourist and also conduct medical evacuations. After the addition of its brand new R66, Prabhu is the only Robinson operator in Nepal with three helicopters in its fleet; one R44 and two R66s.
Earlier the helicopter operator had planned to land the brand new US made Robinson helicopter by 20th September but were unable to do so due to delayed procurement procedure. The order was made months before but the arrival date of the helicopter was pushed back after the delayed response from the helicopter manufacturer reported an official from Prabhu Helicopter.
The company with its current base in the country’s most attractive city, Pokhara operates heli services such as helicopter scenic tours, aerial photography, and filming, corporate tours, medi-vac services, search and rescue services and honeymoon packages.
According to Robinson Helicopter, “The five-seat R66 Turbine helicopter is reliable, economical and easy to maintain. R66s have a two-bladed rotor system, T-bar cyclic and the latest in Robinson technology including streamlined instrument panels, energy absorbing seats and crashworthy bladder fuel tanks. What distinguish the R66 is a spacious 300 lb capacity baggage compartment and the Rolls Royce RR300 turbo-shaft engine. The RR300 engine operates on readily available Jet A fuel and offers increased reserve power, additional payload and improved altitude performance. Hydraulic controls eliminate feedback forces and provide responsive handling.”
