Pokhara Airport has experienced gradual increment in its income. In fiscal year 2074/75, the airport managed to earn more than twenty million than that of previous fiscal year.
In the year 2073/74, the airport managed to earn 6 crore and 94 lakh whereas in the year 2074/75 the airport managed to earn 9 crore and 17 lakhs. The airport managed to increase revenue by staggering 2 crore 23 lakh.
The airport managed to earn revenue from passenger service charge, flight operation, hanger and other rent etc. The airport has also experienced a high number of flight operation which has helped in increasing the revenue.
Lately, the airport has been facilitated with free WiFi service in cooperation with WorldLink Communications.
Many airlines including Nepal Airlines, Buddha, Yeti, Tara air operate more than 20 flights a day from the airport to places like Kathmandu, Bhairahwa, Chitwan, Jomsome etc. The flight schedule is also expected to increase as tourism season is approaching near.
Pokhara Regional international airport will also be completed in expected time states tourism minister Rabindra Adhikari. He stated that the work is happening in fast pace and stated that cooperation from local and regional government for the national pride project is important.
Minister Adhikari inaugurated the construction of a new terminal for Pokhara Regional International Airport couple of months back and the project planned to acquire more land to make the airport last for long period of time. However, the locals were agitated after the repeated acquisition of land by the project in name of National pride project and the amount of compensation distributed becoming low than expected. Later, Mnister Adhikari directed not to acquire additional land for construction of the airport and said that in the case of additional land acquisition for a simple component, the land will be acquired only after the agreement between the government and local.
The airport project has already achieved around 15 percent of physical progress. The airports 2500m runway will be feasible to operate only 192-200 seated capacity aircraft due to geographical situation.
