Parliament Development Committee directs government to speed up TIA upgradation
The long planned expansion and upgrade work on Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to meet the International Civil Aviation Organization standard was supposed to be moving forward with full momentum this year but the work progress seems to be moving at snail’s pace.
With the increasing air traffic every year and the fact that our country’s only one international airport is shared with domestic terminal, resulting in insufficient aircraft parking space.
According to the recent press release, the parliament development committee has directed the government to speed up the upgradation project. Authorities responsible for the upgrade and improving the airport services have been asked to solve the issues that’s been holding up the progress work and give top priority to upgrading the airport. The development committee asked the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, CAAN and TIA to submit a formal report concerning all the complications/problems related to upgrading of the TIA and suggestions from the committee members to resolve such problems.
