PLAY is prepared to begin operations with its first A321neo aircraft painted entirely in red. The airline released images of its first aircraft, which had been newly adorned in its new colors. PLAY’s first aircraft, TF-AEW, was leased from Aercap. TF-AEW is a three-year-old aircraft that flew in 2018 with Mexico’s Interjet.
The aircraft is configured to carry 192 people in an all-economy configuration, with each seat seeming to have a 34-inch pitch.
PLAY has obtained an Air Operators Certificate and has begun painting the first aircraft. Arnar Már Magnsson and Sveinn Ingi Steinórsson, two former WOW air executives, founded the airline. As a result, it is often referred to as WOW MKII.
WOW was an Icelandic ultra-low-cost airline that operated from 2012 until 2019. WOW, air confirmed its closure on 28 March 2019. All flights were canceled, and hundreds of stranded passengers were urged to arrange other airline trips.
PLAY’s A321neo is a 192-seater ex-Interjet aircraft that will commence service on 24 June 2021 with services to London–Stansted.
