One pilot dead as paragliding crashes into Fewa Lake

S. Sierra, Kathmandu

A paragliding aircraft that took off from Sarangkot, Pokhara Muicipality-18, crashed into Fewa Lake today resulting death of the pilot. The pilot was a 42 year old Romanian national.

The incident took at around 11:17 A.M. and the aircraft crashed into the lake. Rescuers recovered him and brought him to the Medi City Hospital, Pokhara, where he had been declared dead.

It has been suspected that a maneuver of Spin gone wrong resulted the crash. The spin turned into a spiral dive, the pilot couldn’t control the dive and plummeted in the water of Fewa Lake.

The ill fated pilot had visited Nepal for paragliding with a group of 9 friends. The group had visited Nepal last year too. They had received permission to fly for February 25, this year.
