National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has published press release after inspecting sole international airport of Nepal, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) yesterday (December 18).
On the occasion of International Immigrants Day, NHRC team led by Sudip Pathak, member of NHRC had studied Department of Immigration (DoI) along with labor departure lounge, immigration lounge.
After the inspection was conducted, the team organized meeting with DoI and Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) on discussing several topics on migrant workers.
During the meeting, NHRC has suggested the airline employee to behave and treat properly to migrants.
The team has found that the government lack to implement the free visa and free ticket provision and the worker were mostly unskilled, uneducated about laws and languages.
NHRC has requested Nepal government to create employment opportunities, to make effective plans and programs to provide rights to migrant worker.
