Newly appointed civil aviation minister focuses on enhancement of TIA

Honorable Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Rabindra Adhikari has given first priority to the expansion of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

He has planned to extend TIA’s capacity within 4 to 5 years before the Nijgadh International Airport’s construction work is completed.

Talking about the construction project, the first priority is Nijgadh International Airport. The problem of Bhairahawa Airport will resolve soon. The home minister has stated to invest the money themselves but not to spend time in compromising unnecessarily with the bank and the construction company as Asian Development Bank (ADB) is denying to grant loan due to unsatisfactory work.

As per the information, for decreasing the air traffic congestion, ministry is looking forward to make another domestic airport. It is impossible to construct two runways in TIA because there should be 1km gap between two runways and the land is not sufficient. It is to be decided to conduct the mountains flights from other place.

Other plan is to reduce delay in landing and take-off where the aircraft have to wait 20 minutes for landing.

The management team of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has promised to bring the grounded Chinese aircraft in operation within 10 days to Honorable Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Rabindra Adhikari on Monday.

According to the source, European Union is coming to Nepal for examining the Nepali aviation and will decide whether to remove the Nepali aviation from blacklist or not.
