Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has reduced air fare for Surkhet- Kathmandu by Nrs.1500.
Chetan Kumar Timilsina, representative of Surkhet Airport stated that new air fare has set up from Surkhet-Kathmandu costing Rs5900 whereas form Kathmandu-Surkhet costing Rs 6,000. “Addressing the demand of the Karnali, the air fare has been reduced,” he added.
Earlier, the air fare was allocated Rs7400 from Surkhet to Kathmandu and Rs 7500 for Kathmandu to Surkhet.
As per the information, the corporation which started the flight operation from Chaitra 24 received complaints about air ticket being expensive.
NAC commenced flights to Surkhet with its 17 seater Harbin Y12e aircraft whereas Buddha Air also started flights to the airport starting from 12th April with airfare starting from Nrs. 6500.
Surkhet Airport is situated at Birendranagar Municipality of Surkhet District, Province No. 6. It is one of the moderately busy airports of Nepal, serves most of the remote sectors of the western part of the country with whole Karnali zone – Jumla, Humla, Kalikot, Mugu and Dolpa – together with Bajura and at times Rukum as well.
This airport is strategically important for the transportation of food grains, clothes, medicines, iodine-mixed salt, construction materials, office goods, school materials like books and stationery as well as other commercial goods.
The aerodrome features a single asphalt concrete runway with Dimension 1255 m x 30 m and orientation of 02/20. The apron of the airport can accommodate 5 aircraft at a time like B190, D228, DHC6, L410, Y12, C208.
