Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines taking off for China today
State owned carrier, Nepal Airlines is conducting cargo flight to Changsha Huanghua International Airport, China today in response to the Corona Virus Covid-19 pandemic. As per the source, an Airbus A330 ‘9N-ALY’ flight No RA-4253 will depart today from Kathmandu to get the essential items needed to combact the effects of Covid-19 in the country.
The flight is scheduled to be airborne today at 05:45 PM and is scheduled to reach Changsha Airport at 00:05 AM (local time) the next day May 09.
The crews for the flights are Capt. Maheswor Man Dongol, Capt. Javed Chaudhri, F/O Jiwesh Lama, F/O Bhogendra Kathayat and others from operations and technical departments. The flight is scheduled to land back at Kathmandu tomorrow at around 6:20 AM .
Another flight for private international carrier, Himalaya Airlines is also scheduled for China today. An Airbus A320 ‘9N-ALW’ flight no H9-7871 will be airborne from Kathmandu at around 05:30 PM to Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG), China for cargo flight. This is the fourth cargo flight for Himalaya Airlines after the international and national flight suspension laid down in the country. The flight will be commanded by Capt. R P Dhakal and Capt. Monir Kumar Shrestha and will land Kathmandu tomorrow morning with flight number H9 7872.
Having acquired the special permission from CAAN, the operating crew has taken all necessary precautions to follow the health safety measures as directed by the Government of Nepal. The cargo includes COVID-19 medical supplies such as medical equipment, testing kits, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), masks/gloves etc.
Considering the pandemic , Nepal airlines and Himalaya Airlines have conducted various Passengers evacuation and cargo flights. Nepal Airlines flew two times as passengers flight to Australia, four times as cargo flight to China already.
