An aircraft of national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) is being chartered for the Vietnam visit of Honorable Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The narrow body A320 aircraft is set to carry PM with delegates to Vietnam today.
Earlier, NAC aircraft was used for the visit of Honorable President Vidhya Bhandari for her China visit. Nepal Airlines has taken the opportunity to get exposure to the international platform with VVIP flights.
NAC officials claim that the corporation has received positive response from President’s China visit so, they are expecting same from the PM’s official visit to Vietnam and Cambodia.
The flight to Vietnam will take almost 3.5 hours for which necessary preparations have been made. The NAC A320 will return soon after carrying PM and delegates to Vietnam.
PM Oli is on his visit to Vietnam to attend the United Nations’ Buddha Jayanti and the summit that is going to be held from May 12 to May 24. As per the information from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, PM Oli will depart on May 9 and return on May 15 after completing his visit to Vietnam and Cambodia.
The return flight will be operated by Nepal Airlines’ aircraft from Bangkok to Kathmandu. The bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) between Vietnam and Nepal will also be reviewed and signed during the visit program.
Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) stated that the flight agreement is set to be made focusing on Buddhist tourists residing at both countries. The ministry stated that the air service is going to be revised focusing on Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA). Currently, there are no direct flights between the 2 countries.
Nepal Airlines had made possibility study on flight to new destination which included Vietnam.
