Nepal Airlines 3 Y-12e and 1 MA-60 Still Stored in factories
A year ago Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) had signed an agreement to buy four Harbin Y-12e and two Xian MA-60 out of which 1-1 MA-60 and Y-12e had been acquired by the corporation as a gift. Still rest of the four aircraft, fully manufactured state with the livery of Nepal Airlines, have been stored in aircraft factories of China.
It has been reported that Nepal Government have already paid half of the total aircraft amount via Axim Bank. But, as Nepal Airlines isn’t ready to accept those Chinese aircraft due to their low performance, weight restriction , expensive spare parts etc. Therefore, those aircraft have been left in China despite china’s insistence.
As, recent visit of some of the personnel from NAC led by Vice Secretary of Tourism Ministry to China to examine the condition of those four aircraft had published a report regarding the performance and reliability of those aircraft that was in favor with the operation of those aircraft by NAC. So, china is insisting Nepal to acquire those
aircraft as soon as possible.
