Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), national flag carrier has planned to operate flights twice a week at Thamkharka airport after completion of blacktopping project.
The corporation is preparing to conduct two flights on Saturday and Wednesday at Thamkharka airport located in Khotang district.
Narendra Udas, Station in-charge of the airport stated that after a test flight, NAC has made flight schedule to operate flight in Kathmandu-Thamkharka-Kathmandu air route on Saturday and Kathmandu-Thamkharka-Biratnagar and Biratnagar-Thamkharka- Kathmandu air route on Wednesday.
People of Khotehang, Jantedhunga and Bahrapokhari are pleased and happy after re-operation of the airport.
After the runway of the airport is blacktopped, local people from more than 20 districts as well as of neighbouring Bhojpur district will also be benefited by the airport as it make easy to reach Kathmandu and Biratnagar.
Previously, the airport resumed its service from February 11, 2019 after the completion of blacktopping project of the runway.
Mr. Rabindra Adhikari, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) inaugurated the resuming of airport.
Sanjeev Gautam, Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) stated that additional important work of the construction of the airport will be completed shortly.
The sick people seeking medical treatment will be mostly benefited by the flight service in this region. While the airport was closed they were compelled to walk for two days on foot to reach Khanidada Airport of the same district and use the air service from there. Khanidada Airport lies on the headquarter Dhiktel of Khotang.
