Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has announced to operate flights in seven days a week with its new wide body aircraft in Doha, Qatar. At present, the corporation is operating Doha flights on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Rabindra Shrestha, Spokesperson of the corporation stated that wide body aircraft is preparing to conduct scheduled flights to Doha, Bangalore of India and Bangkok of Thailand as the first destinations. He said that the corporation will operate flight in seven days of a week to Doha and Dubai whereas Bangalore and Bangkok for four days a week.
The process for commercial flight of new wide-body aircraft has reached the final phase and has been preparing to conduct test flight within a couple of days. The new aircraft will operate commercial flights after completing proving flights.
Regarding commercial flight, new wide-body aircraft has taken a target to fly in Japan within September, 2018. Shrestha told that the corporation is preparing to fly directly from Kathmandu to Narita International Airport near Tokyo, Japan.
Currently, the national carrier is operating international flights with its Boeing 757, two Airbus A320. With the addition of Wide-body, there will be 4 aircraft for international flight with the corporation which will operate from Nepal to 8 destinations. The carrier’s international network includes routes from Kathmandu to Doha (Qatar), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Hong Kong, Bangkok (Thailand) and Dubai as well to Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai (India). The corporation owns four Y-12e aircraft, two MA-16 and three Twin-otter aircraft for domestic flights.
