Sanfebagar Airport located at Achham district which was closed for last 13 years has resume its operation from today . Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) is set to operate flights twice a week.
According to the source, the corporation with its twin-otter touched down at Sanfebagar Airport around 10 AM morning on Sunday.Previously, Summit Air successfully conducted test flights at the airport at the end of May this year.
The corporation has announced to conduct two flights on Sunday and Friday and allocated ticket fare from Nepalgunj and Sanfebagar of Rs 4035.
Achham is only one district which has two airport among nine district located at Far Western region. After regular flight at Sanfebagar airport, locals of Achham, Bajura and Doti will be benefited.
Sanfebagar Airport is located at an elevation of 1955 ft above mean sea level. The airport previously possessed a single earthen runway of a length of 517 meters (1,700 ft) and 30 meters wide aligned to 030 degrees and 210 degrees. The airport can accommodate the STOL single engine aircraft like Cessna Grand Caravan C208, etc.
National flag carrier has intensified the service extension in domestic flights, mainly at STOL. With the plan of operating flights at the commercial perspective destination, the corporation is making domestic flights effective.
The corporation has commenced domestic flights at STOL after successfully conducting test flights.
