NAC Need To Invest 1 Crore For Pilot Training on Y-12e
Recently, China has demanded 1 crore NRS. from Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) for the training of one Instructor Pilot of NAC. Due to the scarcity of pilots, Nepal Airlines 18-seater Harbin Y-12e has been grounded from past 3 months. The total cost that NAC need to pay to China for pilot training is very much expensive for NAC.
It has been reported that Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation minister Mr. Ananda Prasad Pokhrel has already sent a letter to Chinese party mentioning the high training fees rate of one instructor pilot. According to the officials of NAC, the operation of y-12e is not being beneficial for NAC due to high insurance premium, scarcity of type-rated pilots, expensive spare parts etc.
The aircraft Y-12e isn’t meeting the operational standard and is unsuitable for the terrain of Nepal.
