NAC directed to increase flight to India

Flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has been directed to increase flight frequency to neighboring country India. Ministry of Culture, tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) urged the flag carrier to increase daily flights to India.

Currently Nepal Airlines is operating 14 weekly flights to Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.

NAC has been directed to operate at least 3 daily flights and conduct at least 21 weekly flights to India.

MoCTCA stated that the increment in flight will enhance the presence of NAC in international sky as well as help in boosting tourist flow inside the country. This strategy will also help in Visit Nepal year 2020.

NAC previously used to operate only 11 flights to India and with the closure of the Jet Airways, the flight was increased to 14 and now ministry has directed to further increase the flight.

MoCTCA has also stated that they have urged international airlines to reduce airfare to Kathmandu so as to make Visit Nepal year campaign successful.

Nepal Airlines plan to expand their service to new destination with the newly bought wide-body A330 series aircraft has not been able to succeed and has been undergoing loss and has been affecting tourism flow.

NAC also stated that they are planning to increase flights as per ministry however, limited number of aircraft has been setback to increase flights instantly. Yet, the corporation is in discussion with ministry for taking decisions.
Ministry official stated that along with the increase in flight, they are also marketing Nepal and tourism product so as to attract more tourist for upcoming tourism year.
