Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Authority (MoCTCA) has sent a correspondence letter to the concerned authority to operate Gautam Buddha International Airport within next year. Ministry has informed other correlated bodies who directly or indirectly involve in the airport operations.
Analogy has been delivered to Home Ministry, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Labor and Ministry of Agriculture. Ministry affirmed it has also alerted authority like Immigration Custom Officers with the agreement letter to be prepared for the coming days. According to the ministry, the preparations are proceeding on with the view of operating the airport within the next year.
Some of the Physical works like black topping of the runway and roofing terminal building are yet to be accomplished. Black- topping will be started soon after rainy season, informed Project Chief. But, still government has not drawn conclusion on modality of the project and addition of other equipment necessary for the operation of the airport.
Before, MoCTCA Minister Rabindra Adhikari had announced to hand over the project to the private sector. The project was given to Chinese company to complete it in 6 billion rupees (6.22arab). The project was started with Asian Development Bank (ADB) loan assistance.
The construction works like administrative building, electric sub-stations, Security Building have been completed. Similarly, the work of the first floor of the International Terminal Building has been completed and the slope of the first floor of the International Terminal Building has also been finished.
