Tourism minister Rabindra Adhikari (MoCTCA) has urged new Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Ms. Hou Yanqi to help provide Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to Nepal.
During a formal meeting at the ministry, Minister Adhikari urged the ambassador Yanqi to provide AOC as fast as possible to flag carrier of the country Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC). Minister Adhikari insisted on providing AOC fast as NAC is in process to operate to China soon.
The meeting was held on Thursday and Minister Adhikari informed Chinese delegate that the corporation is in process to operate to China nearly around a month and due to delay in getting AOC, the airline has not been able to operate to China.
Minister Adhiakri also stated that Nepal will be celebrating ‘Visit Nepal year-2020’ and has aimed to bring 2 million tourist in the country in year 2020 and requested Chinese delegate to help in bringing as more tourist as possible.
Ms. Yanqi also made commitment that she will inform concerned authority to provide AOC to NAC as quickly as possible and stated to inform Chinese authority immediately.
NAC is in process to operate 3 flights weekly in Guangzhou, China.
According to the NAC, it has already appointed Beijing Longway International Travel Service for GSA for conducting flight to Guangzhou.
NAC will be operating flights to Guangzhou by its Airbus-330 and Airbus-320 aircrafts.
Currently, Chinese airlines like China Eastern, China Southern, Cathay Dragon, Air China, Tibet Airline and Sichuan Airlines operate to Nepal from China.
Nepal Airlines does not operate to China presently, but has got approval to fly to Beijing, Shanghai, Lhasa, Guangzhou, Kunming, Chengdu and Xi’an whereas previously, NAC used to fly to Shanghai and was discontinued due to a lack of aircraft in 2008.
The corporation operates international flights with its 2 wide body A330 aircraft, 2 narrow body A 320 and 1 Boeing aircraft.
