Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) started its operation to Meghauli Airport from yesterday. The airport located at Chitwan had been out of operation for a long period of time (more than 4 years).
NAC will be conducting three weekly flights to Meghauli Airport i.e. on Sunday, Wednesday and Saturday with its Twin Otter aircraft. The flight fare for the Nepalese citizen is Nrs.3165 whereas it is $99 for the foreign nationals.
The locals have been delighted to get their airport under operation after a long period of time. The pilots and passengers flying to Meghauli yesterday were welcomed with sound hospitality. The local Tharu ethnic people presented their cultural dance. Besides, local authorities, hotel and resort operators were also present to welcome the passengers and crews on board the NAC flight.
The regular flights to Meghauli will facilitate tourist intending to visit hotel and resorts at Meghauli, Jagatpur and Patihani. Due to the frequent obstruction at Narayangadh-Muglin road, the travelers are facing problem in transportation so, the operation of the Meghauli Airport will be beneficial.
The local authorities who were repeatedly requesting for the operation of Meghauli Airport said that the airport operation from now on should be sustainable. The tourism business operators at Chitwan are delighted after re-operation of the airport as it will enhance the financial condition and also boosts the tourism industry.
