Majority of flights diverted following reduced visibility at TIA

The drastic and adverse change in weather phenomena at Kathmandu has diverted almost all incoming international flights. Qatar Airways flight ‘QR652’ which made almost 25 rounds at Kathmandu airspace was diverted to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata.

The visibility at Kathmandu is just 2000 meters which is inadequate for safe flight operation. The sudden change in weather has reduced the visibility causing flight delays and diversions.

Air China flight ‘CA437’ has been diverted to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, China. Likewise, two flights of Jet Airways ‘9W250’ and ‘9W268’ from Mumbai to Kathmandu is diverted to Varanasi International Airport as it was scheduled to land TIA at 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM respectively.
