The maintenance and repair of grounded Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) ‘9N-ABT’ Twin Otter DHC-6-300 aircraft has not been initiated as the technical team has not reached Rukum yet resulting in halt of flights to Salle since February 7.
The twin-otter ‘9N-ABT’ aircraft was grounded on 7th February after a right hydraulic pipe ruptured while preparing to takeoff for Nepalgunj flight. Air passengers had to face problem after the aircraft was grounded and the air service is totally closed.
According to the official, the technical team was scheduled to be dispatched from Kathmandu for the maintenance of the aircraft on Thursday but till now the team has not reached the airport however the technical team is reported to arrive on Saturday.
The corporation has been operating flights from Kathmandu-Salle route on Sunday and Wednesday whereas Rukum-Nepalgunj route on Monday and Thursday.
NAC’s domestic flight operation is not up to the mark as it has failed to manage pilot till now to operate two Y-12 series aircraft arriving within this month. Mr. Rabindra Shrestha, spokesperson of NAC said there are only two pilots for operating Y-12 series aircraft.
