One of the world’s most dangerous airports now has been named after world’s most recognizable names. Madeira International Airport also known as Santa Catarina Airport in capital of Funchal was recently named after the nation’s pride: soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo. The president of Regional Government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque made the announcement following a government meeting late last week. Now onward even the google has updated its search results; the result of “Cristiano Ronaldo Airport” can be found by typing “Madeira Airport” or “Funchal Airport” into search engine which also resulted in pretty good Google reviews (4.1 out of 5 stars).
Madeira Airport is always identified as one of the world’s scariest airport to fly into because of its position between the ocean and High Mountains, which makes for difficult approach. The runway was also extended in 2000 and built as a platform with 180 columns suspending it over with the waves and rocky shoreline.
