Lumbini Has Commenced Commercial Flights
On May 1, European Aircraft Manufacturer Company Airbus Inc. delivered brand new A320-200 SL having seating capacity of 158 to Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC). The aircraft has received registration 9N-AKX from Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and is known as Lumbini.
On Thrusday morning, at 8:25 am Lumbini commenced its commercial operation by conducting flight to New Delhi with 136 passengers onboard and pilot in commands German Instructor Pilot Christop and Sr.Captain of NAC Rabindra Purush Dhakal. Currently, NAC has 2 foreign pilots and 7 Nepalese pilots for its two A320. All the 7 Nepalese pilots will fly A320 as co-pilot until they will log at least 50 hours on their belts. After that, they will be allowed to take the command of aircraft themselves.
It has been reported that two A320’s of NAC will conduct 5 flights per week to New Delhi and 2 flights per week to Bangkok as the passenger number has decreased due to major earthquakes in Nepal. With the addition of lumbini in NAC fleets, NAC has 4 jets for conducting international flight. NAC has aimed to conduct flights to international destinations Mumbai, Banglore, Guangzhou, Dubai and so on in near future.
